Maryborough

28 April 2009

DEPART: Gympie

Heading off to Maryborough to visit Blanche and Glen - or "Funny Poppy" as the kids call him. After we arrived Blanche suggested that we take a drive around to see Gary (their son) and his new house. While we were standing having a chat, Lexie came over and showed me how she scraped her toe on the concrete which was bleeding. So I took her out to the truck to put a bandaid on it. Now I must tell you that Chris and I were only saying a couple of days prior that the when you unlock the truck and you only open the back doors the truck automatically locks all doors. And yes you guessed it, I put the keys on the floor, lifted Lexie on the seat, put the bandaid on, lifted her down and shut the door - which of course locked the car. I instantly realised what I had done and then had to walk around and tell Chris the bad news.

Our only set of spare truck keys where in the van, which was locked. We had two sets of van keys, one on Chris's keys (now locked in the truck), and one on my set of car keys, that was in my handbag also locked in the truck.

We tried to get in using a coathanger but had no luck. So, last resort - ring RACQ. It took over an hour for RACQ to come out, but by that stage Blanche and I had taken the kids home in their car and Chris and Glen stayed to bring the truck home.

I couldn't believe I had done it. I felt so silly locking the keys in the car, especially when we had spoke about it - but just glad that weweren't in the middle of nowhere when it happend.

We stayed at Blanche and Glens that night and decided to stay Wendesday night as well. Wednesday morning we decided to head into Hervey Bay to have a look around. We had just driven into town and straight to the mariner and ran into Chris's old boss from Banyo. Just goes to show what a small world it is.

That night Blanche and Glen's daughter Lisa and her four kids came over for a bbq dinner - we had to laugh over the ribbing and teasing that went on throughout the meal. The kids really enjoyed our stay there and so did Chris and I.
